About Us

Scott "Scooter" Landes started Scooter's Bike Shop on July 15, 1975. The idea for a bike shop came during a six week cross country bike tour. Scooter opened his doors in 1975 with a small store of bicycle parts and about 40 bikes. From 1975-1978 he occupied a small store on West Broad in Souderton. In 1978 he bought a store on Main Street and relocated. By 1989 Scooter's Bike Shop was bursting at the seams with bicycles, parts and accesories. Another move was necessary. The current location was purchased from Frederick's Shoe Store, right next door. Fredericks existed as a business in Souderton from 1839-1989. Scooter renovated the shoe store and turned it into the shop you see today. In 35 years Scooter's grew from having about 40 bikes in store to having more than 400. Scott "Scooter" Landes has been in the bicycle business for the past 35 years. He grew up in Souderton and has lived in the area his whole life. Scott, his wife Gail and their three children currently reside in Telford. He has been active cyclist all of his life and continues to ride whenever possible. He has even done a self-contained cross-country trip during which he logged over 3,000 miles.
